White Coat, Birthday, Class President- OH MY !

What a weekend!! This past Thursday through Saturday was incredibly busy but, oh so, rewarding.

Thursday night we held class elections and I was voted as Class President- a role I didn't know I wanted, but am really so humbled to be in. I can't even explain how much it means to me that my classmates chose me to represent our class and be the voice of us. Then on Friday we took the dental oath together and received our white coats, signifying the start of our dental journey. At the ceremony, I read part of our class Code of Ethics that Preston, Grant, and I worked on, and met a few of the dental hygiene students.

Friday was also my 23rd birthday! My dad made me a dentist barbie cake to remake a picture from my childhood. He's a pretty great dad <3 Also! My college roommates, Tessa and Izzy drove far and wide (Duluth and Dekalb, IL) to celebrate the weekend with me. It was the first time we had been together since we moved out and it was so fun and wholesome.

We started Friday night at DSD, but they literally lost Barbie (long story, nobody's fault but my own, frankly), and then we headed home. Saturday we went to the farmer's market and had lunch there (DE-LISH), then went to Backstory Coffee and met up with Lissi and Siiri to study. And then we capped the night on the town with my classmates. OH! And of course, I can't forget the crazy (hopefully accurate) tarot cards that Lissi pulled out at the pre-game. INSANE.

Sunday, Tessa and Izzy and I went to Caribou for coffee since the Rizzler doesn't have one in IL, and then ate brunch at Bruegger's Bagels. Which was also very yum. I really miss having roommates, but it was nice to lock in on Sunday once they left.

We had our first annotation exam this week where we have to identify extracted teeth. Tomorrow is our first waxing practical on #8, and Friday is our gross anatomy exam. Annotations went well, I hope waxing goes alright, but I am fairly nervous for the gross anatomy exam.

I have begun some of my presidential responsibilities and hope to work with the professors to tweak some of our courses to improve student outcomes. I've felt so supported and connected to everyone in dental school- they were serious when they said you would find your best friends within these walls. These are such good people and I am so incredibly lucky to call them my colleagues, classmates, and friends.

xx
